Dear friends,

Welcome to our website.

Fethiye is one of the most beautiful holiday resorts in Turkey. To me it is the best 🙂 

With its forests and greenery, turquoise sea, sandy beaches, natural beauties and historic sites, Fethiye is the best place that we are proud to live together and share with our English friends.

Türkiye 🇹🇷 and Great Britain 🇬🇧 have been two friendly countries for centuries. Although we fought at one time or two in history, brave soldiers of our great nations were kind enough to help each other even in battle times. One would imagine these friendly relations are even greater nowadays in these times of peace and free travel. Today in Fethiye, we have many British friends, expats, tourists and even British-born Turkish citizens. There are many friends who occasionally come to visit this beautiful spot whereas there are others who frequently visit or those who actually bought a property and settled here and become our local neighbours like Mick Amca. People generally come to Fethiye for obvious reasons like swimming, sunbathing, eating, drinking and having fun. When we visit another country, we also do other things if we are brave enough. Go out and about, learn the local language – a word or two max! We intend to naturally learn about the culture and most importantly food. Great British weather has a little less sunshine to offer us in Britain, I have to admit that sunbathing and nightlife for many people are at the top of the list but for some other curious fellows, discovering religious beliefs and practices of local people is a significant challenge. Local culture, local customs and practices, local faith and belief system… Some of them may look totally weird to us! (To be honest) Some others, we really love and adore. Sometimes we get to know the local culture through a genuine local friend. But most of the time, we keep our questions to ourselves! Not to mention why!  

Well, for this reason, we simply wanted to make a simple website that shares pearls from the culture, customs and some religious beliefs of the resident Turkish people.

We like to read about the subtleties of Britishness and it is not the easiest thing on earth to grasp it if I am being honest. Anyway, just like each culture, Turkishness has its subtleties and weird bits. So, in this blogosphere, we aim to share something of Turkishness and Muslimness if we may.
